Week 5

what a week, so first of all i don''t have very much time to email because of craziness, basically my email freaked out and we were running late because my companion had to shower and so it wasted a bunch of my time on the timer and i had to go to IT to get it fixed cuz it wouldn't let me email but it was still using all my time..... so if i don't fit everything in this email i will write you a letter. I can not believe that I only have 3 and a half more weeks at the MTC that is so crazy to me the days are super long but the weeks just fly by. This week Spalka, Harrison, Erikson and Lowder, they are from my zone, got called to the travel office and got told that they had 3 hours to get their stuff ready and they flew to Idaho and will leave to Mexico from there. We are now the oldest district it is just amazing, Okay so the story about my glasses, I was in gym and i got hit in the head really hard by a basketball and was like super dizzy and felt sick to my stomach and i couldn't really see out of one of my eyes and my head hurt.... so they told me that i might have a concussion so i went to the clinic and they lady was really nice but basically was like its pretty impossible to get a concussion from a basketball no matter how hard it hit you, but lets check your eyes, and then she was like holy moley you are blind you should have glasses and i was like oh blah blah i do and then she was like well you should be wearing them at all times, so I was like word i can do that but my prescription is old and i like to take my glasses off when i read and so then i leave them places.... so she suggested contacts.... when i fly to houston, i get to call you when i''m at the airport so as soon as i get my travel plans i''ll let you know when i''ll be calling. also i talked to the director of operations  so like 4 weeks ago and he said that i''m the only missionary flying to houston that day... ask me if i''m exctied to have some alone time cuz i am and the food here makes me sick so i''m amped to have some different food!!!!! teeheeeeeee....
Will you get Amy Coles address for me pretty please.
MOM AND DAD thank  you SO MUCH for reading the book of mormon with me when i was younger and telling us book of mormon stories i can not tell you how big of a blessing that has been for me on my mission so far, please keep doing that, take the time to go over those stories and how they apply to the kids in their lives because that has been the most helpful thing for me when teaching investigators and members.
Starting tomorrow I have a goal of only speaking spanish, and its going to be hard but i know that i can do it and need to be putting my faith in the lord.
I really wanted to share with you what a day in the life of an mtc missionary is but i don''t have time here i''ll write it in the letter
Tell the kids I love them!!!
thanks for getting that book and my card
Love you

Week 4

YAY FOR P-DAY only 4 more pdays left until i go out until the field which is SUPER CRAZY anyway i have so much to tell you, first of all i didn't send my letters from last p-day until today, soooo you probably won't get the letters until monday, i wrote each of the kids individual letters but i probably won't continue to do that, also i sent my ballot in like 2 days after i got it, ummm.... tell felicia to feel free to come bug me, so what has happened in the last week? hmmmm well firstly sister dalton came and talked to us in relief society and you know what it was AWESOME!!!!! she talked about how by serving missions we are living the young women motto and that we are the gospel banner that is unfurled. she also told us that we are the gospel of christ as missionaries, she told us a story about how we should never turn around in the middle of a hill and that through Christ's atonement we can be helped up the remaining part of the hill. here are some quotes from her
Your weapon of war is your testimony
in the strength on the lord i can do all things
she advised us to make a list of personal scriptures and keep them in your scriptures, and constantly add to your list when a scripture touches your heart, remember to write it down because that scripture at that time is inspiration from the lord and as you take the time to remember those things that the lord gives you he will more abundantly bless you with similar inspiration.
Having a testimony is not enough, work on becoming converted, ACT upon what you know and on the testimony that you have
So basically i feel like i really want to finish the work for my young women's medallion, do you think you can send me a book, i'll have my companion sign the things off and then i'll send it back to you when i'm done!
so this week my favorite district left to georgia, i had to make new friends, which is okay cuz who doesn't love new friends? also george left, he got reassigned to long beach california, just until his visa for brazil comes in. um the food here is horrible, its geared toward 19 year old boys who are still growing, and we don't have nearly enough time to work out, but i've been playing basketball with another sister and some of the elders from my zone and its been really good!!!! I haven't been sleeping very well so i'm tired all the time but somehow i make it through everyday!!!! So tell the girls who are leaving to not buy skirts from downeast...i ripped 2 of mine, and you just simple do not have time to fix them and.... they rip in the built in slip part so you can't really fix it anyway.... so i bought a new skirt and i really love it, i might get the same one is gray its really plain but is goes past my knees and its just a good one, ummmm.......... i think that is about all i have for this part of my email, we have to go to the temple!!! also today i finally got my wax to work and it felt so great to get my eyebrows under control
Keep the faith,
love,

week 2

First off i was able to see chris chord that was SUPER AWESOME and guess what we had for dinner yesterday..... CHICKEN BROCOLI CASSORLE yeah buddy it was pretty good totally made my day, i'm waiting for it to show itself in the left over cart :P Also the 2nd week we got a package from the family of our coordinating sister who left to peru, it was really nice full of candy and such, I really loved hermana eddings, we were pretty much made to be best friends i miss her lots. I realized that i haven't told you much about our district, but we have 4 hermanas, 2 are from utah, hermana durte and hermana furst, and then my companion, whom i adore, Hermana Bahr is from iowa we are all around 21 then the elders we have 5 there is Elder Newman who is 25 he played football for the UofU and he is going to tampa (along with the 2 hermanas) then there is Elder Benke he is 20 and a recent convert he and the rest of the district are going to LA that includes my companion. then there is elder roberts, he is from oaklahoma, and elder cressmen utah, and elder lasukau who is from tonga, there are all super fun! I love my zone so much the elders klus, thomas, and mellen are probably my favorite people in the world:) they are all going to georgia and they leave in 2 weeks, then we have a group of elders who are leaving in 3 days i will miss them they are so much fun!!!! Richard G Scott came and talked with us on tuesday it was so amazing to have a catered talk from a prophet, he talked about how we should always have a pen and paper on us so we can write down the promptings of the spirit! he also told us that we could be focused on getting married as soon as we gett home :P This week i also went 24 hours only speaking spanish, it literally took me a minute to figure out how to say that in english :P ummmm.......... i have a list of scriptures that helped me this week and i'm assuming you are posting most of this email on my blog so i would like to challenge anyone who reads this to read the following scriptures and apply them to thier lives:
1 Nephi 1:20.... gods tender mercies
2 Nephi 32:9 remember to pray
1 Nephi 17:52 instead of how instruct me to build i ship, insert something you are stuggling with
D&C 122:7 everything happens to strengthen us
Ether 12:27 weakness to strengths!!!!
As i have struggled all of these scriptures have helped me a ton, and as i have focused on my investigators i have been led by the spirit to find scriptures that not only bless my life but bless theirs, its been hard because i have such a strong testimony of the gospel but sometimes i can't articulate that in english let alone spanish but as i share the scriptures i know that the spirit testifies to my investigaters!!!!!
I love you all!!!! The MTC although hard has been so amazing!!!!

day 2/3

SO MANY GREAT SCRIPTURES..... some of these are from day one but whatever:
1 Nephi 9:6
"But the Lord knoweth all things from the beginning; wherefore, he prepareth a way to accomplish all his works among the children of men; for behold, he hath all power unto the fulfilling of all this words. And thus it is. Amen."

BOM 30 day challenge

On sunday the bishop challenged us to read the BOM before next fast sunday, I won't be here for next fast sunday but I figured I could blog about my experience doing it. As I started this challenge I also decided to only listen to MO TAB, which is all I will be able to listen to on my mission, as well as some other gospel music. So Day one was 2 days ago but i'd like to share a scripture:
1 NEPHI 1:20
"...But behold, I, Nephi, show unto you that the tender mercies of the Lord are over all those whom he hath chosen, because of their faith, to make them mighty even unto the power of deliverance."

wow how awesome is that? I know that I have been able to experience so many tender mercies of the Lord, because of my faith and because he loves me, I cannot tell you how many days I have felt like I was ready to give up and someone called or something happened to lift me back up and set me back on my way :)

mission time

I totally knew that I would be HORRIBLE at doing this blog, but soon it will be turned over to someone else who will just post my letters, which will be great!.... okay so lets see what has happened? I got my mission call to "THE" mission, aka Texas Houston East! haha about 2 months after receiving my call my mission president, who is new as of july, finally sent me a letter and guess what? i need a bike :P ugh, its all good i'm excited to be biking in the humid heat all day! I went to the temple and it was such a great experience, i didn't really think so when i first went but after everything settled i was amazed how wonderful it actually was. Wearing "Gs" is really not bad I got used to them pretty fast. Now its less than a month until I leave for Utah and I'm freaking out just a little but its okay cuz I know this is what i'm supposed to be doing!!!!
